Welcome to the latest edition of the Magrathea Newsletter, combining news from Magrathea and around the industry.

Client Portal and RESTAPI updates

We are pleased to say there have been a couple of recent enhancements to our Client Portal and REST API.

Customers can now check which IP addresses are whitelisted to send outbound SIP calls and to add and remove IPs if required. SIP Registration clients can also change their password. Clients who would like to use these features will need to send us an updated permissions form – please contact the Support team on support@magrathea-telecom.co.uk to have this feature added to your account.

In addition, customers who are submitting name and address details for emergency calls should please be reminded that the call /nine/data is now deprecated and /nine/dataj should be used instead.

Our most up to date user guides are available here:

Ofcom Update

As many of you will be aware, Ofcom published a statement in December to clarify how the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) would be transposed into UK regulations through changes to the General Conditions.  The key changes to be aware of for December this year are

  • Definitions updated to replace the previous ‘Publicly Available Telephone Service’;
  • A number of contract requirement changes to ensure contracts do not act as a disincentive to switch;
  • Mobile devices may not be locked to a specific network;
  • Information publication defined for greater transparency and to aid comparison of providers;
  • Requirements to provide information in a suitable format extended to all types of disability.

To help our clients get ahead of the changes we have updated the guidance we publish.  This guidance pays particular attention to the conditions that are specific to voice providers.  A copy of this document can be downloaded from our usual client information download area.  Please be aware that the updates come in three stages, the first in December this year with further updates in June and December 2022, we will modify our guidance document at each stage.

As always here at Magrathea we appreciate your comments and feedback, if there is anything you would like to contact us about, or you would like to opt out of receiving future newsletters, please email info@magrathea-telecom.co.uk
