This month, we caught up with Hayley from our Business Development team. It’s been a couple of years since we last featured her, so we thought it was the perfect opportunity to see what she’s been up to, learn more about her role at Magrathea, and discover a few things you might not know about her.
Hayley – tell us a bit about your role and what you enjoy most about working here?
I am responsible for all new business and account management at Magrathea – this focuses on building strong relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring customers receive the best possible service and value from our solutions.
What I enjoy most is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with customers and make a genuine impact on their business.
How has your role or career evolved since joining the company?
It’s changed quite a bit over the years! I joined in 2011 as an admin assistant, and quickly moved in to the porting team. After a year or so in porting I was offered the opportunity to move into the support team where I developed a strong understanding of the telecoms industry and customer needs.
About 3 years ago my focus shifted to account management and new business – helping to establish and grow Magrathea’s business development function. Since then, I’ve worked closely with customers and partners across the industry, supporting businesses as they navigate the evolving telecoms landscape and helping drive growth through strong commercial relationships.
Many people won’t know that you’re training to become a volunteer Special Constable. What inspired you to take that on?
I took this on to challenge myself and it is certainly doing that! I also hope to gain some confidence once I have finished training and am in role!
What’s one thing you’d like people to know about volunteering as a Special Constable that they might not realise?
Many do not realise we’re fully warranted police officers with the same powers as our regular colleagues. We attend incidents, make arrests, investigate offences, and deal with the same challenges and responsibilities while volunteering our time alongside our regular careers and personal commitments.
Balancing work, training and personal life must be challenging. How do you stay organised?
It can be difficult but am managing it OK so far! All of my volunteer training/duties are manageable outside of work – the training is spread across 12 weekends over 6 months and I can do my “homework” after work in the evenings. The Harley won’t get as many outings this year with training taking up some weekends but I get out when I can (and when the weather allows!)
We’re incredibly proud to have people like Hayley on the team, and we wish her the very best as she takes on this rewarding challenge alongside her role at Magrathea.
