In honour of Take your Dog to Work Day, we asked Dash ( who regular readers may remember from our March Employee spotlight ) to document some musings on a typical day in the office…
A Day in the Life of Dash: Magrathea’s Chief Pawsitivity Officer 🐶 (as narrated by Dash himself)
07:52 – Arrive at Mag HQ. Tail wagging. Ears flapping. Stride in like I own the place (I do, spiritually). Priorities: sniff my bed has been left how I like it and prompt my human to prepare my breakfast.
09:01 – Settle into my morning role: sofa supervisor. One paw draped off the edge for dramatic effect. Keep one eye on the door in case my cooked sausage and boiled egg delivery arrives. It’s important to fuel the working dog.
09:30 – First patrol of the office. I perform thorough floor-level reconnaissance. Office plants sniffed. Dog toy basket inspected. New arrivals distracted by my soulful eyes. A win.
10:15 – Time for a team meeting. I attend attentively from under the table, offering occasional deep sighs and meaningful stretches, plus allowing the occasional belly rub. Morale = boosted.
11:45 – Second sofa shift. It’s all about balance: a bit of lounging, a bit of lurking. I ensure the cushions remain furred to optimal comfort level. I take the opportunity to make strong eye contact with the sausage-eater. They break. I win again.
13:00 – Lunchtime strategy walk. I lead my human on a targeted route past the conveniently timed sandwich van. Business development opportunity I believe? Some very promising smells.
14:30 – Emergency alert: someone is in the kitchen area. I initiate immediate action to assess any spillage that may need clearing. Situation resolved with minimal crumbs and one triumphant tail wag.
15:00 – I join a Teams call by accident. My ears are described as “the best thing in this meeting.” I take this as a compliment and leave before being asked to present. I wonder if I should have taken the opportunity to share my Insta account details with my new fans?
16:10 – Final check of the sofa, which has the added bonus of being positioned so I can perform perimeter checks and visitor monitoring out of the window. All is secure – another productive day logged.
16:30 – Clock out. Shake off. Accept final head pats. Head home to recover from my day, satisfied I have made the office 42% more joyful.
