National Dog Day – updates from Dash, our CPO

Posted on: 26th August 2025, by Magrathea

Last year for National Dog Day, we featured an article highlighting Branston – but this year, following the feedback we have received on the article Dash submitted for Take Your Dog to Work Day, we asked him if he would mind putting paw to paper once again to share his thoughts on life as our Chief Pawsitivity Officer…

Musings from our Chief Pawsitivity Officer, Dash.

Following the popularity of my last article, the PR team here have asked for more insights into my career as CPO here at Magrathea. So, who am I to deny them and you the readers?!

It’s been a busy few months here at HQ.  In June I helped out at the new business year team lead meeting, this time held at a local pub (it’s good to get them out and about every now and then). Fantastic location as the windows in the upstairs function room were perfectly placed for the people on the top deck of the buses to admire me whilst they were at the stop outside. The venue also provided lunch, I got to share some goats cheese and chips. Yum! It was a long day, but very successful. Lots of planning for the next years’ workload. Lots of pawsitivity will be required, so my job is very safe I feel.

I then helped organise and facilitate some technical training for 2 days in the office in July (In this team, I am known as ‘The General’). We gathered the techs from far and wide and had a great couple of days sharing knowledge. I made sure they all stayed awake with regular laps of the boardroom table stopping for ear scratches and occasional well-timed huffs and sighs from my bed. Also ensured plenty of toilet and snack breaks, welfare is key. Of course, having people travel does require a pub dinner, we sat in the garden of one of the local pubs one evening and more chips were provided – this time with bacon and haloumi. I love my job.

At the beginning of August, I was sent on secondment to another office that was in need of a pawsitivity review.  Ludo – a previous Magrathea Pawsitivity Officer – kindly agreed to come out of retirement for the day to deputise for me during some interviews for a new team member.  “Management appreciate that us dogs are the best judge of character and no human will be added to the team without our approval”. Ludo reported…

Scatter in the usual workload of welcome duties, perimeter surveillance, desk cuddle visits, monitoring snack times – plus the occasional singalong at the window – all in all I have had a pretty busy few months! You can hear more about what I get up to outside of work on my Insta, if you are interested also!
