Posted on: 4th November 2020, by Magrathea

Welcome to the latest edition of the Magrathea Newsletter, combining news from Magrathea and around the industry.

RESTAPI

Following on from an update to our RESTAPI last month, customers who are submitting name and address details for emergency calls should please be reminded that the call /nine/data is now deprecated and /nine/dataj should be used instead.

Our most up to date user guide is available here: https://restapi.magrathea.net:8443/docs/

Colocation Space

We currently have some space available for colocation in our suite in Telehouse East, with prices starting from £340 per month for a quarter rack.

The London Telehouse East Datacentre is among the most advanced, reliable and secure IT and Communications facilities in the world, with environmental control, high availability, power redundancy up to 2N+1, fire detection and suppression and multi-layer physical security systems.

If you would like to talk about colocation, please contact our sales team on sales@magrathea-telecom.co.uk

Nuisance Calls

A reminder that Ofcom have the right to withdraw number ranges from a range holder if they have significant concern over nuisance calls originating from a particular number range.

Whilst we make every reasonable effort to ensure our ranges are not involved with nuisance calls, due to the risk of the impact of ranges being withdrawn we are renewing our efforts to prevent and detect misuse and in turn encourage each of our clients to review their own customer base to ensure compliance with all current regulations and guidance.

To help us to satisfy our obligations as a range holder, we will continue to monitor and review and will be asking clients to provide evidence of compliance with the Ofcom guidelines where necessary.

Industry Update

It has once again been a busy time for consultations and one of key importance to us is the Wholesale Voice Markets Review which will feed into the regulations that are set in place for the next five years.  We were pleased to see that Ofcom have listened to many of the views shared with them over the last year or more and there were many positive steps forward in the consultation but still a number of details to be thought through.

Our response to the main consultation has been submitted and our focus is now on the EECC Revised Proposals consultation, which again thankfully includes lots of sensible improvements based on previous responses but still has a few areas we need to stress in our response.

If anyone has any particular concerns about the matters covered in the consultation please do give us a call and we will try to make sure they are included in our responses.

Recruitment

Due to a steady increase in workload, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Software Developer, initially based out of our friendly offices in Theale, near Reading in Berkshire (Covid guidelines dependent!) To find out more on this role, please contact Vicki – vicki.peskett@magrathea-telecom.co.uk

As always here at Magrathea we appreciate your comments and feedback, if there is anything you would like to contact us about, or you would like to opt out of receiving future newsletters, please email info@magrathea-telecom.co.uk
