This month we caught up with Donna, our Client Support & Accounts Specialist. Alongside supporting clients, she also takes the lead on all things financial.
We last featured Donna in 2021, so we thought it was the perfect time to revisit her role and see what a typical day looks like for her now.
Donna – tell us a bit about what you do at Magrathea?
I manage the finance team, where I am responsible for producing monthly reports and invoices. I also work within the client and sales support team which keeps things varied and means no two days are ever quite the same.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
It is hard to pick just one thing – what stands out most is the people and the culture. There’s a real sense of teamwork at Magrathea, the way everyone supports each other makes it an enjoyable place to be every day.
What are the most significant changes in the time you have been here?
Having been here for almost 17 years, I have seen a lot of change – thankfully all positive. The company has grown significantly, when I first started I could count the team on one hand, and now we have expanded far beyond that! The telecoms industry itself is also constantly evolving from a regulatory perspective, which keeps things interesting.
What advice would you give someone starting out in telecoms or finance?
Be open to learning, always ask plenty of questions and don’t underestimate how much you’ll pick up from people around you!
What’s your all-time favourite film, book, or TV show?!
It’s hard to choose just one! I love a mix of fantasy, action and adventure. Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree books will always hold a special place from my childhood and I’m really looking forward to seeing them brought to life on the big screen.
And finally, how do you enjoy spending time outside of work?
We’re a skiing family, so we’re always planning our next slopes adventure. I also love stand-up paddleboarding by the coast, keeping active at our local tennis club (where I am also Treasurer) and exploring the countryside with our two dogs.
Thank you, Donna, for taking the time to catch up with us. It’s always a pleasure – and it’s great to hear more about your role and the work that keeps everything running smoothly, as well as what you enjoy outside of the office.
