This month’s we caught up with Emma – who joined us last February as a porting specialist and is part of our amazing porting team, responsible for processing porting orders and dealing with porting enquiries.
We wanted to know a bit more about what she does and find out a little bit more about her…
Tell us a bit about what you do at Magrathea?
I help to make the transfer of numbers between providers as smooth as possible for customers. Whether the numbers are coming in or going out. It requires a fair amount of liaising with other providers to get the ports accepted sometimes.
What do you enjoy about working here?
The people at Magrathea are really lovely and a great laugh to work with. I enjoy the process in porting. It is satisfying getting the ports accepted and then tested and completed.
What advice would you give someone starting out in telecoms?
Attention to detail is definitely needed in porting and there are a lot of idiosyncrasies with how various providers work, that can take some time to get used to. And although there are a lot of telecoms companies, it can feel like quite a close-knit Industry.
We are a very foody office! What’s your favourite snack or drink at work?
That’s a difficult question to answer as I love most foods! And, I probably eat more than I should when in the office as the topic of food comes up a lot. I have to say, pistachios are normally to be found on my desk.
And finally, how do you enjoy spending time outside of work?
I enjoy being creative with my hands whether that’s reupholstering furniture, painting or making rugs.
