This month we sat down with Clare – as it has been a few years since we last spoke with her! Clare is our Administration Manager and Finance Support, responsible for the smooth running of our office and managing all things behind the scenes. We took a moment to chat with her about her role and uncover a few things about her.
Clare – we last caught up with you in 2019! Tell us a bit about what you do and what you enjoy at Magrathea?
I wear multiple hats at Magrathea, with no two days being the same. Some days my focus is accounts admin and others it’s office operations…especially making sure we have enough tea to keep the office running smoothly.
How has your role or career evolved since joining the company?
I started working mornings at Magrathea back in 2012 and the majority of my role was carrying out routine checks and audits to ensure our carrier routes remained optimal, plus office management and helping with accounts. I work a few more hours now to fit in with the school/college runs. My main responsibilities are the same as before but as we have grown we have more staff and clients, so jobs take a little longer to complete!
What are the most significant changes in the time you have been here?
As well as all the industry changes – which I won’t pretend I know all about – Magrathea has grown considerably. Another significant change is that we now enjoy hybrid working, working 5 days a week in the office seems a distant memory and some days I wonder how I managed it.
What’s your all-time favourite film, book, or TV show?
I have recently discovered Traitors, which I am loving. I also like to unwind in the evenings by reading. I don’t have a favourite author as such, but I particularly like light and easy-going fiction.
And finally, how do you enjoy spending time outside of work?
I have 3 children and am currently in the process of teaching my middle child to drive – you may find me rocking in a corner as my nerves are shot! Jokes aside, he has picked it up really well and his (proper) instructor has said he is ready for his test, so now the fun starts trying to get one booked that isn’t a million miles away and in a years’ time!
I also like to take part in Macmillan Mighty hikes – raising money for a charity that is way too close for comfort! I have now completed 2 full marathons and 2 half marathons.
Thank you Clare, for sharing your experience with us – we are certainly grateful for all you do behind the scenes!
